During this program, Eve will inspire you to create a ‘Daily Practice’. She will share how she created her own daily practice and the impact that it had on her art. Eve will also provide practical tips and instructions to help you to create your own daily practice and grow as an artist. This will be a fun time of casual interaction and sharing of ideas with your fellow members of Southeastern Pastel Society. Join us for an evening of discovery as Jeanne Rosier Smith demonstrates her tips and techniques for painting this classic subject in pastel.
It’s easy to see why Monet got obsessed with his lily pond. Reflections on the water’s surface, the floating lily pads, translucency and depth—the possibilities are endless. Jeanne Rosier Smith will share her own discoveries and tips with this painting this classic subject in pastel.  BIO: Jeanne Rosier Smith studied Art and English at Georgetown University and later received her PhD in English from Tufts University. After teaching English at the college level for ten years, she made the switch to full time professional art in 2005. Her home and studio are in Sudbury, MA, where she is learning to love painting snow in winter, when she’s not escaping to the beach. Smith is a fellow at the St Botolph Club of Boston, a Copley Society Master Artist, and an IAPS Master Circle/Eminent Pastelist. She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the American Society of Marine Artists, the Connecticut Pastel Society and the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod. She has served as an educational consultant to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and has also given pastel demonstrations and gallery talks at the Museum. She has exhibited at the Massachusetts State House, the Guild of Boston Artists, the National Arts Club and museums around the country. Her work has garnered top awards, including the Prix de Pastel (Best in Show) from IAPS, The International Association of Pastel Societies, a Grand Prize in International Artist Magazine Seascape Competition, and two Art Spirit Foundation Gold Medals for Excellence in Pastel. She has placed in the Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100 for the past seven years, including first place in 2017 and 2019. Her work has been featured in Plein Air magazine, International Artist Magazine, American Art Collector, and The Pastel Journal, and she is a regular contributor to the Pastel Journal. |

As an art instructor and mentor she also conducts workshops at home and abroad. Join the SPS Facebook Community for the January/February Paint N' Grow w/ Eve Miller PSA, IAPS-MC. We will kick it off on Zoom, January 8th @ 2:00 . During this program, Eve will inspire you to create a ‘Daily Practice’. She will share how she created her own daily practice and the impact that it had on her art. Eve will also provide practical tips and instructions to help you to create your own daily practice and grow as an artist. This will be a fun time of casual interaction and sharing of ideas with your fellow members of Southeastern Pastel Society. This is FREE and exclusively available to SPS members through the SPS Facebook member only group.
