There are more artists painting in pastel than ever before making it an exciting time to be a part of the pastel art community at any level—beginner to masters. With the introduction of many new types of pastels, substrates and supplies, today’s artists are creating innovative ways to paint with pastels. In addition, the opportunities to participate in pastel-only art exhibits and competitions are growing through a global network of pastel societies. We invite you to make your mark and grow with Southeastern Pastel Society!
Joining is easy and costs only $45 a year.
What are the BENEFITS that our Members experience?
SPS offers two exhibitions each year that are juried by master-level pastel artists.
- On-line shows
- In-person exhibits held in galleries in the Atlanta, Georgia area.
Members and non-members can enter the exhibitions, however, members receive a discounted entry fee. Award ceremonies include generous awards and certificates.
Every member can create their own profile page that includes images of their work as well as links to their website, FB page and/or Instagram. Participation in our society exhibitions also allows your paintings to be part of our web galleries. Daily posting on Instagram to showcase member art and accolades. Members can also ‘Share News’ and ‘Share Member Hosted Events’ which are published on the website as well as social media.
Our monthly programs are FREE to members and are held via Zoom so that all of our members can easily attend. Renown pastel artists provide demonstrations and presentations that cover a multitude of topics invaluable to artists from all levels. Non-members are welcome to attend as guests one time and are then are encouraged to join in order to enjoy programs every month.
SPS offers at least two workshops each year conducted by master-level pastelists. Workshops are held either virtually through Zoom or in-person and are discounted for members.
Members join and participate in the a bi-monthly program, “Paint N’ Grow”. Members are encouraged and instructed by Master level pastelists as well as their peers. Continuous valued content is offered to ensure that our members are inspired, educated and informed.
We are always providing information via our “News” page and we broadcast your achievements (“Member News” page under “News” menu) and events (Member Hosted Events page under the “Events” menu)
SPS makes many additional artist resources available only to our members via their private log-in credentials.

We maintain an open door policy and welcome members to volunteer. Whether it’s as a board member, chair position or a committee, we are always happy to hear your ideas. Opportunities are published on the News Page of our website. We are fortunate to have a friendly, talented, and devoted group of artists who work together to create a robust art community.
