Artist Statement: Nature is my primary muse, with favored subjects being bird nests, trees and pond life (of lily pads, koi and reeds) that convey movement and peace (sometimes simultaneously). I usually work in a series and explore various pastel techniques, underpainting and surfaces that make painting even more interesting and enjoyable. My intention is to interpret the natural universe as I see it to share with the viewer.

Artist Bio: Eileen attended Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts, where she graduated with a teaching degree and a BA in Art. She taught art and worked with children for nearly 40 years. Her primary medium is pastel and she also enjoys printmaking, mixed media, and graphite. She is a Master Artist at the Cape Cod Art Center and an International Association of Pastel Societies Master Circle Artist. She is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and several other societies, including the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, where she is past Recording Secretary, past Vice President and currently serving on the Board. Eileen is also a member of the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Falmouth Arts Center, North River Arts Society, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and the Cape Cod & Islands Art Educators. She was a pastel instructor at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham in 2018. Eileen earned a First Place award in the 2012 Pastel Journal competition and an Honorable Mention in 2013. She was also chosen for their 2017 “7 Emerging Pastel Artists to Watch”. She has been honored with numerous national, regional and local awards for her work. Eileen shows at Sandwich Antiques Center and with the Sandwich Arts Alliance. She lives in Sandwich.
