SPS Member Profile

I was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. As a child I loved to draw and filled the pages of my sketchbooks with animals, flowers, and imaginary creatures. Art has always been a place I could escape into and immerse myself in a world of imagination, expression, and creativity. I received a BFA in Communication Art and Design at VCU where I discovered the beauty of the impressionist period and artists such as Renoir, Edgar Degas, and Mary Cassatt. After a long career as a Graphic Designer and Creative Director, I discovered the impressionistic technique of pastels and was soon passionate about the dynamic colors and textures that could be produced with this medium. I paint the beauty of nature and all the creatures in it and see them come alive through the strokes and marks of my pastels. I have exhibited nationally in galleries and juried shows and have become locally popular for my expressive animal portraits.
