SPS Member Profile

The Lowcountry never disappoints when it comes to the plethora of subject matter to choose from to paint. Lisa Mills is fascinated and inspired by the ever-evolving light on wildlife in the marsh and the changes in light through the seasons. In her words, "The marsh offers its own palette – each day offers a new array of colors." When asked why she is an artist, her reply is simply that she cannot not create. She gravitates to wildlife (birds in particular), florals, landscapes and cityscapes from her travels. The purity and intensity of the pigment with each soft pastel lends itself to creating dramatic scenes and beautiful hues. Lisa’s artwork has been on exhibit at numerous galleries nationwide. She has received numerous international awards and has work accepted in the Southeast Pastel Society and the Pastel Society of South Carolina. She is an associate member of the Pastel Society of America, and an exhibiting member at the Art League of HHI and Artists of Sea Pines. She currently resides in Hilton Head with her husband and two dogs, Sophie and Sammy.
